After our AGM, we were entertained by member Captain James Podger with a display titled ‘West Indies Postal History A-V’.
James showed us an array of covers from all over the West Indies, noticeably pre-stamped covers, some of which are quite rare. He pointed out certain covers that had stories behind them including a message in a bottle which was thrown overboard from the S.S Nou Benito on 26/1/1907 opposite Maderia and picked up on Caicos Islands on the 15/11/1908.
This was our first live meeting since the pandemic and Captain Podger’s display was enjoyed by all the 33 members attending – a fitting end to our first meeting after 18 months.
