We were treated to a special afternoon in March, delivered by our distinguished guest speaker, Michael Sefi FRPSL, LVO, RDP and the former keeper of the Queen’s collection.
In the first half Michael displayed the various aspects of the Downey Head issue. On display were the three different types of dies used along with the different type of papers used, errors, their usage, and paquebot material. Much of the material shown formed part of an international Gold Medal exhibit in 2001.
The second half Michael showed ‘Transatlantic Post Office’ covers and postcards from 1905 to 1914 from on board cruise liners, along with many of the handstamps used on board.
