February 2025

In February we have a very interesting and informative display from Philip Cant on the ‘Titanic from cradle to grave and beyond,’ which was essentially a pure stamp display. RMS Titanic was a British ocean liner that sank in the early hours of 15 April 1912 as a result of striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City built by the White Star Line.

Philip gave some entertaining stories and gave us facts and figures about the ship, the crew, the passengers amongst many other things that we learnt. He showed us stamps that were fakes and some stamps with smoke coming out of all its four funnels but the fourth funnel was mainly for decoration and was not used.

An entertaining and enlightening afternoon.
